30 Years Of 'Silence Of The Lambs': What The Cast Is Up To Now

The Silence of the Lambs was an iconic piece of pop culture. Constantly hailed as one of the greatest and most influential movies of all time, the genre-defining 1991 horror flick introduced us to some memorable characters: Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Buffalo Bill, and many more. It was adapted from a 1988 novel of the same title and garnered a sequel, two prequels, and one upcoming HBO series.

However, it's been 30 years since the movie first aired, and we still have a plethora of burning questions. One of them being what the cast has been up to since departing the franchise.

10 Brooke Smith

After portraying Catherine Martin in The Silence of the Lambs, Brooke Smith took her acting career to the next level. In addition to The Silence of the Lambs, Smith is also known for her role as Dr. Erica Hahn on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, one of the longest-running shows to ever embraced our TVs. She's also got a part on ABC's new crime-drama, Big Sky.

On a personal life level, the 53-year-old actress married Russian cinematographer Steven Lubensky in 1999 and have two children together.

9 Stuart Rudin

Despite only having two lines in the entire two hours and 18 minutes of the film, Stuart Rudin's portrayal of the disturbingly-unhinged character Miggs was pivotal to the movie. He also starred in The Sopranos, Leon: The Professional, and Stake Land. Unfortunately, there isn't much known about his whereabouts now, but he has landed parts in several other smaller movies.

8 Frankie Faison

On contrary, Frankie Faison, the actor behind Barney Matthews in the Hannibal Lecter franchise, is still pretty much around. He played Ervin Burrel in HBO's The Wire and Sugar Bates in Cinemax's Banshee. As for his recent roles, he's made some cameo appearances here and there from Luke Cage to The Blacklist. He's also secured ten episodes on 2019's The Village.

7 Scott Glenn

Many have portrayed Jack Crawford, the FBI agent-in-charge of the Behavioral Science Unit, but no one has come close to what Scott Glenn did. Recently, the former US Marine Corps member starred in disaster drama Greenland in 2020. Despite being released on on-demand streaming platforms, the movie scored an impressive $47 million worldwide gross in the same year.

6 Kasi Lemmons

30 years ago, Kasi Lemmons played FBI agent Ardelia Mapp in the film. Now, her character is set to make a comeback in HBO's Clarice, which picks up several years after the events of The Silence of the Lambs.

Lemmons is still one of the most demanded actresses in Hollywood with several nominations on her belt. Her brilliant portrayal of abolitionist Harriet Tubman in 2019's Harriet was her highest-grossing film, scoring a total of $43.3 million in the box office.

5 Anthony Heald

The Silence of the Lambs wouldn't be complete without Anthony Heald, the man behind Hannibal Lecter's jailer, Dr. Frederick Chilton. After departing the series, the New York actor ventured into roles on television series, notably The X-Files, Sam & Cat, and Boston Public. His most recent movie, Alone, was released in 2020.

4 Tracey Walter

Tracey Walter has an impressive laundry-list to his acting portfolio. According to his IMDb page, the comedian has appeared in over 100 titles, ranging from movies and series in almost every genre. However, it seems like he's been enjoying some time off from the Hollywood spotlight, as he made his last acting cameo in 2016's Wakefield.

Anthony Hopkins is undoubtedly the most successful Silence of the Lambs alumni. Two years after the movie aired, Queen Elizabeth II knighted the actor for his service to the entertainment industry. The Academy Award-winning actor's recent works include Westworld (2016-2018), The Two Popes (2019), and The Father (2020).

2 Ted Levine

Ted Levine portrayed Buffalo Bill, the serial killer who murders overweight women and skins them, in the Hannibal Lecter franchise. The actor himself is still fielding up calls from casting agencies for acting opportunities. He's been continuously a part of Hollywood since before his part in The Silence of the Lambs. As Deadline reported, Levine is set to join the ABC drama series Big Sky, alongside Kyle Schmid, Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, and many others.

1 Jodie Foster

Jodie Foster catapulted her career thanks to her brilliant performance as Clarice Starling in the movie. As mentioned above, the character is set to retell the events of the story in the upcoming HBO flick Clarice. The Golden Globe-winning actress has now been focused on directing more than acting, with her next acting project The Mauritanian coming this year.
